Scope

Internet of Things (IoT): Connects devices to the internet for data exchange and automation. Careers include IoT developers and embedded systems engineers. Key sectors include smart homes, manufacturing, healthcare, and smart cities.

Programme Structure

The first semester provides a strong foundation in computer science and engineering principles. Students begin with Mathematics for Computer Science, covering essential mathematical tools. Engineering Physics offers foundational scientific knowledge, while Introduction to Computer Science and Engineering provides an overview of the field. Basics of IoT introduces core concepts of the Internet of Things, and Programming Fundamentals lays the groundwork for coding skills. Communication Skills are emphasized to enhance technical communication.

In the second semester, students build on their foundational knowledge. Data Structures and Algorithms focus on efficient data management techniques. Digital Logic Design covers the principles of electronic circuits, while Computer Organization examines system architecture. Introduction to IoT Protocols explores communication protocols used in IoT systems. Engineering Mathematics II extends mathematical knowledge, and Environmental Science provides insights into the impact of technology on the environment.

The third semester emphasizes system-level understanding and IoT applications. Operating Systems explore the software that manages hardware resources. Database Management Systems focus on storing and retrieving data efficiently. Embedded Systems introduces the integration of software and hardware in IoT devices. IoT Sensors and Actuators covers components used in IoT systems. Probability and Statistics apply to data analysis, while Technical English enhances the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.

In the fourth semester, students tackle advanced topics in IoT and related technologies. Web Technologies cover the development of web-based IoT applications. Wireless Communication examines principles of wireless networking crucial for IoT. Cloud Computing for IoT explores cloud services used in managing and processing IoT data. IoT Security addresses the challenges of securing IoT devices and networks. Computer Networks provide understanding of network principles, and students select their first Elective.

The fifth semester delves into specialized IoT technologies and applications. Advanced IoT Protocols covers sophisticated communication protocols for IoT systems. IoT Data Analytics focuses on analyzing data collected from IoT devices. Smart Systems Design explores the creation of intelligent IoT solutions. Edge Computing introduces techniques for processing data close to the source. Students select their second Elective and an Open Elective I, broadening their academic perspective.

The sixth semester includes hands-on projects and advanced topics. Artificial Intelligence for IoT explores the integration of AI with IoT systems. IoT Application Development focuses on creating and deploying IoT applications. Smart Cities and IoT examines IoT applications in urban environments. Students select their third Elective and an Open Elective II. A Minor Project allows students to apply their knowledge to a practical IoT challenge.

In the seventh semester, students integrate their learning with major projects and specialized studies. Industrial IoT explores IoT applications in industrial settings. Healthcare IoT examines the role of IoT in medical and healthcare systems. IoT Systems Integration focuses on combining various IoT components into cohesive systems. Students work on their Major Project Part I and select their fourth Elective and an Open Elective III.

The final semester culminates with comprehensive project work and industry experience. Major Project Part II involves completing and presenting a significant project, integrating the knowledge gained throughout the program. Professional Ethics in IoT covers ethical considerations specific to IoT technology. Industry Internship provides real-world experience and professional exposure. Students select their fifth Elective and an Open Elective IV, completing their education with diverse learning opportunities.
